The Sverdlov Plant, officially the Federal State Enterprise “Plant named after Ya. M. Sverdlov,” is a major Russian chemical and defense-industrial enterprise located in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region. Its origins date to 27 June 1916, when construction of an explosives plant in the area was authorized. The plant specializes in industrial and military explosives, special chemicals, ammunition-related production, and industrial machinery. Its civilian products include explosives used in mining, oil and gas operations, and seismic exploration. In the defense sector, the plant has been involved in the production and filling of ammunition and warheads for various types of military systems. The European Union identifies it as a Russian military-industrial enterprise involved in producing explosives used by the Russian Armed Forces. Today, the Sverdlov Plant is part of Russia's Rostec state industrial structure through Technodinamika. It is considered an important part of Russia's explosives and ammunition-production industry.
