2nd Anti-Submarine Ship Division - Vice-Admiral Kulakov
Actor Notes
Vice-Admiral Kulakov – Pennant 626 Project 1155 Udaloy Class Destroyer assigned to the 2nd Anti-Submarine Ship Division of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Navy.
The Udaloy class are a series of anti-submarine guided missile destroyers. There are currently 7 x in service with the Russian Navy. The ships complement the Sovremenny-class destroyers in anti-aircraft and anti-surface warfare operations.
Vice-Admiral Kulakov was commissioned in December 1981 and was in service until March 1991 when she was retired for repairs which lasted more than 18 years. The destroyer has the capability of hosting a Ka-52K helicopter on the rear deck.
The Udaloy class destroyer measures 163.5m in length, 19.3m beam, and draught 7.5m. The flight deck for the Ka-52K measures 20m length and 18m width capable of accommodating 1 helicopter. The ship can travel at a top speed of 29kt (53.7km/h, 33.4mph) and has a range of 2,600 n miles (4,815.2km/2,992 miles) at top speed and 7,700 n miles (14,260.4km/8,861 miles) at 18kt (33.3km/h, 20.7mph). The Udaloy has a complement of 249 crew and 29 officers.
Key vessel armaments:
- 2 x 4 SS-N-14 (Silex) anti submarine/ship missiles. The missile carries an underslung anti-submarine torpedo which is dropped above the suspected submarine location. The torpedo searches and homes in on the submarine. Operational range of 10-90km verses a ship and 5-50km versus a submarine. Maximum depth of 20-500m. Maximum speed Mach 0.95, 290m/s, (650mph). The missile is controlled by radio command via helicopter or other external guidance plus an infrared seeker. This missile has been superseded by the SS-N-15 (Starfish).
- 4 x vertical launchers for SA-N-9 (Gauntlet) SAM. Known as the Tor, this missile is an all-weather low to medium altitude, short-range surface-to-air missile system. The naval variant was developed under the name 3K95 ‘Kinzhal’. The missile measures 2.895m length and spans 0.65m, weighs 165kg at launch and has a max speed of Mach 2.5. Minimum range of 0.5 n miles (0.9km, 0.6 miles), max range of 6.5 n miles (12km, 7.5 miles).

Actor Notes
Marshal Ustinov – Pennant 055 Project 1164 Slava class cruiser was assigned to the 43rd Missile Ship Division of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Navy.
The Slava class cruiser is a smaller version of the dual-purpose surface warfare Kirov class. The ship is considered one of the most powerful combatants in the Russian Navy.
The vessel is armed with:
- 16 x P-500 Bazalt (SS-N-12 Sandbox) ASMs – a turbojet-powered supersonic cruise missile. The P-500 Bazalt measures 11.7m and has a range of 297nmi (550km/341.8mi), a launch weight of 6,000kg with boosters and a flight weight of 4,800kg. The warhead is believed to be either a 500kt nuclear or a 950kg semi-armor-piercing high-explosive (SAP HE) warhead. The turbojet can carry the missile to cruising height – up to 20,000m and can fly at speeds in excess of Mach 2.5 at maximum altitude and Mach 1.5 at low level.
- 64 x S-300PMU Favorit (SN-N-6 Grumble) long-range SAMs – a missile designed to protect task groups from attacks by single or multiple aircraft and has the ability to engage up to 6 targets simultaneously. The S-300PMU Favorit measures 7.25m, has a range of 40.5nmi (75km/46.6mi), and a launch weight of 1,665kg. The warhead is armed with a 130kg blast fragmentation warhead.
- OSA-M (SA-N-4 Gecko) SAM system – a point defense missile system with surface-to-surface capability. The OSA-M measures 3.15m, has a range of 4.9nmi (9km/5.6mi), and launch weight of 127kg. The warhead is armed with a 14.5kg high-explosive blast fragmentation warhead.
In December 2016 Marshal Ustinov returned to the Northern Fleet after a 5 year overhaul at Zvyozdochka Shipyard where the vessel was upgraded with an advanced missile system:
- Kalibr (SS-N-27A Sizzler) – three-stage anti-ship missile. The weapon system is made up of 2 missiles. The main subsonic long-range cruise missile carries a shorter-range supersonic sprint missile. The Kalibr Sizzler measures 8.22m, has a range of 356.4nmi (660km/410.1mi), and a launch weight of ~2,000kg. The warhead is armed with a 200kg blast/fragmentation warhead.

Actor Notes
Georgiy Kurbatov - Pennant 631 Project 12700 Alexandrit class is one of the latest class of Russian minesweepers. This vessel was designed by Almaz and built at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard for the 68th Coastal Defense Ship Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy.
The main feature of the Project 12700 is a monolithic fibreglass hull which provides the vessel with a lighter hull and therefore a longer service life. The vessel has a maximum speed of 16.5 knots (31km/h) and a range of 1,600nmi (3,000km/1,800mi) at 10 knots (19km/h/12mph).
The vessel is armed with 1 x 6 barreled 30mm AK-630 normally mounted in an enclosed automatic turret and directed by MR-123 radar for detection and tracking of targets. The main purpose of this armament is defense against anti-ship missiles and other precision guided weapon systems. The AK-630 can also be used more offensively against fixed/rotary wing aircraft and other targets.

Actor Notes
The 76th Guards Chernogov Red Banner Air Assault Division is a Russian Airborne division based in Pskov. The division fought in the First Chechen War, Second Chechen War, Russo-Georgian War, the Donbas, and in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. They committed mass murder of civilians in Bucha and have been used as reserve forces on the frontline where Ukrainian forces have broken through.
They were responsible for carrying out the cleansing operation during the Bucha massacre where they arrested, tortured and murdered Ukrainian civilians. In September 2022, the 237th Guards Air Assault Regiment reportedly 'no longer existed due to either death or injury of all soldiers'.
As of September 2023, the division is operating on the Robotyne front where they have been brought in to provide defensive support to Russian units. The unit is doctrinally designed for rapid, lightly armored maneuver warfare. It is poorly suited to the intense, static and defensive fighting that is now expected of them.
