Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) is one of Russia’s leading manufacturers of tanks, armored vehicles and artillery and is part of the Rostec state corporation. Based in Nizhny Tagil, it produces and modernizes T-72 and T-90 tanks, including the T-90M, as well as systems such as the 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled howitzer. UVZ plays an important role in Russia’s war effort by producing new armored vehicles and repairing and modernizing older tanks for continued use in Ukraine. The company has been under extensive Western sanctions since 2014, with sanctions expanded following Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
