The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Kirov class nuclear powered battlecruiser Pyotr Velikiy has entered the Barents Sea and will conduct air defense and anti-submarine exercises in the coming days. While entering the Barents Sea, the battlecruiser tested its abality to detect and track air targets. A Il-38 maritime patrol aircraft provided assistance by playing the role of the aerial target.
